
BMW’s appetite for controversial design may have waned since the heights of former design boss Chris Bangle’s oft-derided flame surfacing stratagem. But it shows no sign of fading completely, as we see in the first official photographs of the new sixth-generation 5-series, which goes on sale in North America by mid-2010.

admin BMW Australia says it is ready to repel a local sales assault by rival German car Audi, which has stated its intention to become Australia’s leading luxury brand by 2015.
BMW again considers Audi a competitor, with recently appointed managing director Stavros Yallouridis declaring he would “have to keep an eye” on the ‘third’ German brand that’s been catching its compatriots on the sales charts.

Spied: 2012 BMW 3-Series Sedan
While the 2012 BMW 3-Series might seem a long ways off, our spies have captured the first photos of a next-generation prototype fresh from Europe. The typical 3-Series look — evident since the E36 through to the E46 and currently the E90 — will remain, meaning squat proportions, short rear overhang and wheels placed to each corner. That said, the car will look slimmer and more toned compared to the current 3-Series.

BMW teases 2011 5-Series [Video]

Following several spy sightings, BMW has released a teaser video of its forthcoming 2011 5-Series Sedan. Although the actual 5-Series doesn’t appear in the teaser video, the short clip does show the 5er’s “sporting and elegant design” via a kinetic sculpture from the BMW Museum.
